MEET THE STAFF & SEE HOW WE BREW OUR  AWARD WINNING REAL ALES

22 years of Vale Brewery

Situated just outside the hill top village of Brill in rural Buckinghamshire, Vale Brewery started brewing quality award winning Real Ales in 1995.

We use the highest quality natural Maris Otter malted barley, hops from around the world, fresh water and yeast to produce clean, pure beers.

We never use any artificial additives, colourings or flavourings ! The result is smooth, refreshing and well balanced beers.

"We have always used the finest ingredients to produce our Real Ales, we strive to make all our ales full flavoured and well rounded."

Mark & Phil Stevens Founders of Vale Brewery.

THE DRIVERS

Our drivers deliver all over the UK and are kept very busy in the local counties of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and London.

The lads are always keen to talk about our Real Ales with the publicans and customers at the brewery.

THE BREWERS

The brewers David and Ben are proud that the award winning Real Ales they make are free from any artificial additives or preservatives.

"We always aim to make a well balanced beer with a great taste that's easy to drink and easy to enjoy"

David and Ben regularly brew more unusual and varied beers, available as monthly specials and single edition.

THE BREW KIT

In 2010 the 20bb kit was put in which makes 5,616 pints of our Real Ale each brew.

The kit is stainless steel, very efficient and produces a very clean final product.

HOW WE BREW

MASH

David mashing in the grain to extract the starches. These straches get converted into sugars by enzymes that are released by adding hot water. This concentrated sugary liquid is known as unfermented sweet wort.

HOPPING THE BOIL

Adding hops to the boiling wort acts as a natural preservative and gives bitterness to the beer.

Hops also provide flavour and aroma to the finished product.

There are many varieties of hops with countless different flavours and aromas for the brewers to play around with and create interesting, award winning Real Ales.

FERMENTATION

Yeast is added to the cooled sugary wort where it converts the sugars into alcohol and CO2.

The yeast is a living organism which feeds on the sugars and multiplies, spilling over the fermenting vessel.

THE FINAL PRODUCT

When the fermentation has stopped, and has been chilled to settle out any left over yeast, the beer is put in cask and left to condition for a week. The result is worth the wait and a new tasty beer is born.
